District of Columbia Security Clearance Attorney

Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland

Since graduating cum laude, in 1996 from the Georgetown University Law Center, District of Columbia security clearance attorney Leslie McAdoo has built a legal practice serving the needs of individuals and companies working for or with the federal government.

Prior to entering the field of law, Ms. McAdoo served as a Special Agent for the Defense Security Services (DSS), completing advanced DSS personnel and facility clearance training in order to conduct background investigations for federal personnel security clearances. Ms. McAdoo worked on the industrial security team in the field office supporting the National Security Agency and assisted new government contractors in acclimatizing to security clearance requirements.

This experience informs Ms. McAdoo’s current business and criminal law practice.

Security Clearances: As a security clearance lawyer, Ms. McAdoo advises individuals and small and medium-sized corporate clients in the areas of corporate compliance and individual and facilities security clearance requirements. Ms. McAdoo has created compliance codes and security programs for small businesses, and has helped government contractors and employees avoid administrative sanctions, including revocation of security clearances and debarment from government contracting.

Criminal Defense: Ms. McAdoo defends individuals and companies facing civil or criminal charges in federal and state courts for white collar crimes, such as fraud, misappropriation of proprietary information, and violation of trade secrets.

Ms. McAdoo conducts internal investigations for corporate clients, advising on defense strategies and voluntary disclosure, when prudent. Ms. McAdoo authored the section on obstruction of justice in the book Corporate Fraud Investigations and Compliance Programs, published by Oceana Publications.

Ms. McAdoo maintains a small commercial and civil litigation practice as well, representing clients with contractual disputes.

A member of the Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia Bars, Ms. McAdoo is admitted to practice in all the federal courts in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Court of Claims, and the United States Supreme Court.
